Is there a Universal Issue? Did God cheat....yes and I can prove it.
by oompa ingen. 3:5 for god knows that in the very day of your eating from it your eyes are bound to be opened and you are bound to be like god, knowing good and bad.".
(genesis 3:22) 22 and jehovah god went on to say: "here the man has become like one of us in knowing good and bad, and now in order that he may not put his hand out and actually take [fruit] also from the tree of life and eat and live to time indefinite,".
gen 3:22and the lord god said, behold, the man is become as one of us, to know good and evil: and now, lest he put forth his hand, and take also of the tree of life, and eat, and live for ever:i awoke this morning and had an epiphiny.

If Adam did not sin, would humans have lived forever on earth?
by jwfacts inthe new testament talks consistently of a heavenly hope, not an earthly one and the idea that humans are to live forever on earth is not supported scripturally at all.. however, what would have happened if adam and eve had not sinned.
the watchtower likes to make the point that it is only sin that caused adam and eve to die.
romans 5:12 that is why, just as through one man sin entered into the world and death through sin, and thus death spread to all men because they had all sinned.. what do christians believe regarding this scripture?

John The Baptist. More than a Prophet?
by Steve J inin bite me's recent post about the virgin birth i raised some serious questions which make us doubt that jesus was conceived by gods holy spirit.
my research over the last few years, since leaving jw's has led me to believe jesus was just a ordinary man, and to me that makes his sacrifice even more powerful.
this post raises similar questions and challenges what we actually know about john the baptist and the part he played in jesus' life.. in islam, john the baptist and jesus are as important as one another and in arabic, the language of the qur'an, john is known as yahya the infinite.

Most people would say that practising any religion is better than not......
by JH inmost believers think that it's better to practise any religion than to act like an animal and not practise any.. even my dad who used to dislike the jw's when he was alive, told me once, "you're better off going back to that religion, than not practising any religion at all".
i'm a believer like he was, but it's funny how most believers will say that practising any religion is better than not practising any.. jw's wouldn't agree, because they think that only their religion is the right one, even though a wrong religion may have a postive influence on somebody's behavior and happiness.. the only thing a jw looks at is the carrot "eternal life".
they won't look at the good that may come out of practising another religion.. after my jw experience, i won't go to any other religion.

What JW Beliefs Did You...
by Abandoned inwhat jw beliefs did you make up for your own sanity?.
for me it was regarding the flood.
instead of believing that god had destroyed millions of people, i imagined that because of all the violence, by the time the flood came, the only people besides noah and his family that were still alive were the nephilim.

Are the Creative days 7000 years long?
by Steve J inwhere does the idea that the creative days of the genesis account were 7,000 years long come from?.
genesis doesn't suggest that they were specific time periods, but shows that one "day" extended into others.
i feel that the clue is in the words; "and there was an evening and there was a morning, a first day.

Context and Consistency
by DT insince i was born into the wts, i suffered from a lot a brainwashing before i could even read.
i had a lot of preconceived ideas before i started to read the bible.
i assumed that it was consistent, so when i came across apparent contradictions, i assumed there were reasonable explanations and even tried to make them up.
